The Japanese festival of TANABATA is really cool cuz people write wishes on paper and hang them up on bamboo trees. They go and see fireworks. (That's the condensed tanabata I want to do this year)

Easter is supposed to be the day Jesus died (or something), but now we just eat chocolate from the Easter Bunny!

The first day of Easter is Good Friday. Sunday is Easter Day or Easter Sunday. This year, Easter starts on the 10th of April!

Groundhog Day

Groundhog day happens every February 2nd. This magical day lets us know if there will be six more weeks of spring, or six more weeks of winter.

Wikpedia says:
If the groundhog comes out of it's burrow and doesn't see it's shadow, winter will end soon.
If the groundhog sees it's shadow, winter will continue for 6 more weeks.

Yes, indeed, today is Chinese New Year. If you didn't stay up until midnight last night, you were at risk of your eyebrows turning white. If they didn't, you were one of the few lucky ones. On the eve of this day, you eat chinese dumplings, sing karaoke really loud and dance. You also eat lots of food. *burp* It is officially the year of the cow or ox. Moo. Some random article on Yahoo said it was the year of healing. I'm not sure though. But why not.

Robbie Burns Day!!

Whoot! This is the day when all Scots (and non-scots too ) celebrate the afamed Scottish poet Robert Burns and his life and his writing. New Year's Eve is the last day of the year. On this night, people celebrate their year and wish for things they would like to change for the new year. They stay up until 12 in the morning, counting down the minutes until the new year. When it is the new year everyone is happy.
